Corporate responsibility
At Ernst & Young you’ll have many opportunities to make a difference. It’s our aim to be the leader in corporate responsibility among professional services organizations. Our approach to corporate responsibility coordinates volunteering activities in a way that harnesses your unique skills and capabilities. So you are able to have a far greater impact personally.
We channel our volunteering into three key areas that are aligned with our business strategy and critical to improving and expanding market economies. These are education, entrepreneurship and environmental sustainability, or the “3E’s”, as we call them.
In our work in education, we help make sure the next generation has the skills it needs to make a positive contribution to the business world and broaden access to education. In our work with entrepreneurs, we support, promote and celebrate start-up companies as they create opportunity through economic growth and job creation. And in our work in environmental sustainability we are exploring diverse ways of minimizing our impact on the environment.
Here are just a few examples of our many community engagement efforts:
- We’re committed to providing you and your faculty with the tools and information you need to succeed in the business world through our unique Academic Resource Center (ARC). For example, the ARC recently rolled out a comprehensive curriculum related to IFRS, so faculty will be able to provide you with the latest thinking around this important global topic.
- We’re committed to helping students from underserved communities gain access to education. Nationwide, we bring math literacy to more than 4 million kids each week through the sponsorship of the PBS program, Cyberchase, and help high school students build the foundation that will help them succeed in high school, college and beyond.
- We support the development of entrepreneurs in South America through the Corporate Responsibility Fellows Program and recognize the accomplishments of small business owners with our Entrepreneur Of The Year Award.
- Within Ernst & Young, we’re working to go green. We’re the first in our industry to name a full-time Director of Environmental Sustainability dedicated to our own internal practices and we have hundreds of people who are leading EcoCare projects in their local offices.
- Other support includes firm-sponsored volunteer programs, non-profit board training, and an Americas-wide Community Engagement Network.
Community engagement is also a key part of our global career development framework, EYU. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills in new and different contexts. This may involve improving your public speaking skills or sharpening your ability to negotiate and collaborate with people from a variety of backgrounds.
At Ernst & Young we’re committed to promoting business, social and economic progress in every country in which we operate. We believe that by thinking strategically about the societal investments we make today, we’ll make sure there’s a business context where we can thrive tomorrow.
